The 60 humbucker packs plenty of output with a balance of thick, boosted mids, big lows and singing highs. Featuring close aperture coils, similar to a mini-humbucker, this model produces rich harmonic overtones with plenty of sustain. Due to its ceramic magnets, the EMG 60 has a full treble response and loads of output great for distinct single-note solos. The 60 provides clarity and character to your guitar and works very well in the neck position. Like all EMG active guitar and bass pickups, the 60 installs without the use of a soldering iron, making it easy to do at home.

Excellent tone and sustain

perryiv /Reviewed 9/20/2018

I've got this pickup in the neck position on my ESP EC-1000 LTD. The clarity of tone really cuts through the mix. The sustain from EMG pickups is only rivaled by the sustainiac system. I've got EMG 85/81s in a Charvel and a Jackson and the tone is crushing, I love them.

Boasted Vintage

Pluto vs Planet /Reviewed 6/11/2018

I’m loving this pickup in the bridge, very versatile. The 81 has too much mid, and the 85 has too much bass, this one is perfect! Although it seems to have a little less output than the other 2, it can still get nasty. I wish they would make a TW combo like the others with this pickup and the 60a.

Versatile neck pickup

James /Reviewed 1/17/2018

I have schecter with Seymour duncan invader set and I replaced the neck with this 60. They work so good, although the 60 is an active pickup and the invader is passive. Very good clean tone and clarity. And also good articulation. I play mostly metalcore/classic rock but sometimes blues, i get it all with this 60

THE neck pickup!

Nick /Reviewed 5/27/2015

I bot this with an EMG 81. Overall this is yet another supreme pickup from emg, great cleans, great tone, and suprisingly good distortion for a neck pickup. the non soderless install was great but since I play a v the cable that went to the jack was too short, but since I had active pups in it before hand I just used the jack that came with it. Compared to an 85 this pickup is really bright while the 85 is very warm. Thanks for a great neck pickup!

60's are it!

Frank /Reviewed 12/22/2014

I've been playing a long time. As a guitar player you know darn well that we're constantly on the pursuit of "that tone". That tone for me is a well rounded tone. A tone where I can hear all the notes in a chord that's overdriven. A tone that has depth and thickness, but has shimmering highs and present mid's. It's here in the 60. I've experimented with the 81, 85 and 60 in all configurations and I've landed on the 60/60 combo running at 18 volts. It is the absolute perfect tone for my tastes. Okay so what's my tastes? Say 70's Rush and Zep with a little more bite. An overall classic guitar tone. That brings the tone of the guitar itself to the table. Go 18 volts - trust me it make these pups really come to life. I am completely thrilled with the 60/60 combo at 18 volts. I don't see that changing, like.... Ever.

Great Pickup for Any Genre

Gage /Reviewed 12/22/2014

I mainly bought this pickup for my recreation of James Hetfield's Explorer, but instantly fell in love. It has amazing bass (yet not too much) for clean, and can carry distortion as if it had a handle. I would personally recommend this over the 85, but that's just my opinion.

Do yourself a favour...

Trevor /Reviewed 11/1/2014

Try one of these in the bridge position. I have one in a Telecaster Tuned to D standard and one in an Ibanez Saber paired with an S in the neck and mid. I have an SPC Control in both guitars. The 60 is just the right balance of smooth and aggressive. Thick enough to fill the mix while bright enough to stand out. Brilliant! The SPC adds some midrange scream. Wow. Do it. You know you want to!
