A true original, the 57 is a bridge humbucker pickup designed for today’s guitar player regardless of style or genre. The unique combination of Alnico V magnets and steel pole pieces evoke an unmistakably PAF quality in its tone. The active attributes provide the headroom and punch necessary to deliver unparalleled definition and presence.

The 66 is a result of pickup design innovation inspired by the specific needs and requests of today’s players. Alnico V magnets provide the warm, smooth mid-range and expansive lows while the ceramic pole pieces bring out the clarity in the upper register.

A GREAT GROWL, AMAZING CLEAN

cdwlee /Reviewed 5/3/2018

After pining after these for years, I finally pulled the trigger. I have been obsessed with the X series and buying those for the last few years for my guitars, but I was always drawn to these.

I installed them in a new custom explorer, and the sound was amazing. That fluttering buzzsaw tone that I only hear when playing a classical guitar, these pickups grab that raw tone of the strings, and with a little overdrive they sound like nothing I have ever heard. It's incredible!

They are not as loud as other EMG options (which is what I wanted in this guitar) and the tone was amazing. The gold color was a bit darker and warmer than the other gold hardware, but they look amazing in this beast.

They blend together very well, and I find the clean neck tones reminiscent of the Het Set - almost a thick sound with a subtle chorus. I know it's not, but it just rings forever!

If you want a thick clean sound, almost reminiscent of thicker strings without sacrificing your fingers - this set is by far the best choice, and they really can go from blues to metal in moments.

Awesome pickups, better than expected!

Danken /Reviewed 3/9/2018

These pickups replaced a set of Dimarzio PAF 36th Ann. in my Epiphone Les Paul Custom ZW Signature. I´ve always drawn more towards passive pickups for their dynamics but these are a different game all together. Less compressed, more dynamic in how they react to my picking hand and the volume/tone controls.

But most importantly, the clarity of the EMG 57/66 is insane! Even with unreasonable amounts of gain, these pickups articulate every note and with chords they don´t turn to mush. Every note in the chord can be heard clearly! Clean sounds are really lush and full, especially on the neck and middle position. Didn´t expect such a bright sound with lots of detail from a neck pickup without being ice picky and harsh!

Loving them so far, simply the best EMG currently offers!

Unique And Amazing.

Mauro Cordeiro /Reviewed 2/18/2018

It´s the perfect sum of Sound Quality, Warm (and HOT) low mid range tones, with an amazing definition at mid and high tones.

Perfect EQ balance. Bridge and Neck pickups. It fits your every need. I mean: Either If you love from Jazz to Rockabilly or from Classic Jimmy Page´s style to Slipknot... It will FIT YOUR NEEDS!

This pair of EMG Pickups respond highly, gives you more definition to your playing, solos and alternate picking (for example), and also gives you a great robust clean chord tone that also sparks definition.

Sorry If I repeated so much the words Perfect and Definition. But it´s the only ones I´ve found to define EMG 57/66 Sets.

Ah! Another word: PERFECTION!

I will always use´em at my project LEATHERJACKS!

Great pickups

David /Reviewed 10/13/2016

I have these pickups installed on a 2008 Ibanez SZR520 thru a Marshall JVM and I'm very happy with them. They are loud but not noisy and have a natural sustain. They look very versatile so I can play different styles without having to chance guitar during a gig. Their cleans are very good and they can deliver heaps of distortion.

F***ing amazing!

Marvin Sabo /Reviewed 2/4/2016

I tried several Di Marzios, Duncan and EMG pickups to find my tone.... Spend a lot of money for them and i never found "the right way to go"...
Now i found the perfect sound for me. Thanks to Richie Faulkner for showing me these pickups on EMG TV. Sounds amazing! Respect for the unbelievable work on the 57/66 Set. Love it!

Best EMGs yet!

Don /Reviewed 12/2/2015

I've tried numerous EMGs in the past yet were never really happy with them. They always seemed to leave me uninspired and were just too smooth sounding...but this set is another story! I have an LTD EC-1000FR that I bought used with a set of SD Slash pickups in it. They weren't right for the guitar at all, so after reading reviews and watching several videos, I thought I'd give the 57/66 set a try. These blew me away!!! They actually saved me from selling this guitar! It's really the best of both worlds. The midrange crunch and dynamics of a hot passive pickup as well as the best cleans I've heard from any of my guitars. Even with high gain settings, they still maintain a decent amount of definition while introducing rich harmonics. I'm sold on these! EMG has hit a homerun with these as far as I'm concerned!

Great Humbuckers

Matt /Reviewed 3/18/2015

I don't play metal and my favorite pickups are single coil G&L MFD's. I decided to try these out due to the online reviews and I had an LP Studio that I couldn't find any humbuckers I yet liked in it. I put these in, and I love em, and now its like I have a new guitar to play. It is all about the 66 in the neck, I get a great range of sound with it, you can roll off the volume knob without much loss in volume, just less gain, the 66 is full and dynamic, lots of midst. The 57 is pretty good too, but so far I only use it when I need more gain than the 66 puts out. I highly recommend these pickups, even if you are not a metal-head.
