Kirk Hammett has been ripping up solos for Metallica for over 30 years. Riffs on Ride the Lighting, Master of Puppets, and the Black Album are a must learn for all rock guitarists. For Kirk, his tone starts with EMG pickups. “Metallica’s crunch sound is often cleaner than people expect”, says Kirk. “My taste in tone has definitely changed over the years. The Kirk Hammett Bone Breaker set is the result of taking the success of Metallica tone and adding some new elements without sacrificing gain for clean or vice-versa. By making slight pre-amp adjustments and combining Alnico 5 and Ceramic magnets the perfect tone-beast was created. The Bone Breaker set consist of the BB-B Ceramic bridge and the BB-N Alnico 5 neck pickups. If you are looking for rhythm or lead tone, the Kirk Hammett Bone Breaker set offers crisp crushing leads or smooth rounded rhythm tone at the flip of the selector switch.

Super easy to install and sound great.I put these in a LTD KH 202. The set came with a few different wiring diagrams, which were super easy to follow. The pickup sound amazing, all of the gain sounds you would expect plus super fat sounding clean tones. Just putting this out there, order the EMG selector switch it makes the install way easier.

Best so farI have actually replaced my typical 81 set with this set in all of my guitars. I feel like much tighter and more aggressive than the traditional 81 set Les background noise as well.

Great Focus and PunchThis pickups are great if you want a tight and focused tone. I purchased the KH-602 expecting my heavy distortions to be real chunky and with a lot of fizz when cranking up the gain and treble. I had just gotten a REVV G4 Pedal and blasted the crap out the gain and frequencies using this guitar and got no fizz. It maintained its clarity so I was able to get the girth and with out all of the top end fizzle resulting in a robust, biting tone with a lot of articulation. If you are looking for a super saturated chunky sound this is not for that purpose. These definitely feel like they were voiced for more of a modern metal sound. If you want a more tighter, focused, punchier sound as well as bright cleans then these are the pickups you want.

Cut to the Crunch!!!I bought a LTD Eclipse a few years ago, which came with the 81/60’s, from there I’ve been hooked!!! I’ve purchased H4, H4A, Bone Breakers, most recent purchase the Red capped 81/85 set! The Bone Breakers just crunch strait to the point, I love them, easy to install, wire up and go! And I always use the supplied jacks, I don’t see what the deal is with stereo or not! All 4 of my guitars are now EMG equipped and my future project consist of a Eclipse EC-256, purple, which I will be dropping the Het set in!!! Of course I always get the switches to plug and play so there’s no worries about what wire goes where! EMG ALL THE WAY FROM NOW ON!!!

One of the best set of EMG pickups!I've been looking for the best pickup combination for my Esp Ltd Elite Eclipse I, and this set will definitely stay on it.

Great pickupsinstalled these on my LTD KH-202 and its insane, amazing neck tones and clarity from the neck pickup with a punchy bridge pickup for some solid rhythm lines, great pickup for metal

Awesome PickupsIncredible set. The bridge pup is in my opinion the perfect revamp of the classic 81 pickup, with more clarity and an overall fuller sound that really hits like a freight train. the neck pickup is nice and rich for solos, but also surprisingly good for clean tones, at least as far as active pickups go. Overall, these pickups are a great upgrade for anybody looking for more clarity while retaining that vicious bite that EMGs are known for. They may not be as versatile as the 57/66 combo, but they will definitely satisfy all your metal needs.

81 + 60 PerfectedI’ve been playing EMG pickups for 15+ years now. I have use the 81, 60, 85, H2, H4, Het Set and a few more. This set rounded the tone of the 81. Adding some more lows while taming the highs. The neck pickup has a liquid feel almost like an 85 but not as muddy or thick. Great set and will be replacing other pickups soon.
