The EMG JVX Set is a mixture of old and new, utilizing traditional exposed pole pieces and EMG's X Series preamp. This preamp bridges the gap between passive and active tone and feel. Developed to deliver the classic tone and look of a vintage Jazz Bass without the noise often associated with vintage passive pickups. This pickup maintains the "faded" attack of the offset pole pieces that many players prefer in combination with our most dynamic preamp. The JVX Set will appeal to the player looking for a "retro" vibe with the active tone and frequency range of an EMG.

New life from an old bass

Mike /Reviewed 9/20/2018

I'd been meaning to do this a long time. Have a perfect neck on a Squier Jazz I've owned for 25 years, but its always sounded a little DULL. She was due for retrofitting. After research I decided on this set. The fact that it was a full electronics set was very appealing. The plug and play is very handy. Just be warned that the plugs might be bigger than the wires your bass is routed for, and I wound up doing some drilling to expand the wire routing and had to dremel out a spot for a battery, and pay close attention to the instructions and make sure your plugs are facing the same way (and don't panic when it doesn't work at first, review your wiring.
The surgery aside, these were very easy to install and get going. Between these and a new bridge, my mellow old Jazz now bites and growls. Attack is very articulate. Notes are very defined. it punches through the mix. Very good value product!

Wow!

I bought a Fender Jazz Bass MIM Deluxe 2 years ago and I ended up having a '' HUM Problem '' with it. After listening to several videos and reading magazines I decided to buy them, yes it's different pickups active, but shit ... loll I love them more than active. A fantastic sound, Wow!!!! I only had a slight problem with the pole spacing (MIM), so I changed my bridge for a HipShot KickAss which I can adjust the spacing of the strings. Thank you EMG and hipshot!! Rock On!

Wish I had known about these pickups sooner

Roxy /Reviewed 4/28/2015

I love the Marcus Miller tone and have been trying to nail that sound for 30 years. During that time I have used all kinds of pickups and pre-amp combinations. and have gotten really close. Recently I saw a few bass clips on youtube. Just the JVX pickups ,no extra electronics and I couldn't believe my ears.. Just perfect.Nice lows zingy highs without a hint of harshness and just the right midrange. So I ordered a set, trying to keep my expectations to a reasonable level.
But... not only are these pickups super easy to install and dead quiet, they have also totally exceeded my expectations. My 74 Jazz Bass has NEVER sounded this good.

Awesome!

These pickups have a single coil tone but with more of everything single coils lack. Deeper bass, clear articulate midrange and crisp treble. NO NOISE! and with only three knobs I have better tone than most active/passive setups out there. Mind blown!

Great replacement pickups

Tripiana /Reviewed 11/30/2013

Great sounding and easy to install pup set! my dull sounding bass turned into a tone monster! it's so much more fun to play my bass now. great value for your money. they have a vintage tone but with modern technology. very clear highs and mids and great low end. very punchy and percussive tone. and they're dead quiet when you roll back the volume of one of the pups, totally hum free! They do anything EMG says they do. cheers!
