The 60-8XH is designed for extended range housings with humbucker style mounting. This pickup packs all of the output, clarity and top end of the original 60-8 with the added headroom and dynamic control of the X preamp. Loaded with ceramic magnets, this pickup provides the brightest attack of any of EMG's 8-string pickups. This model is often used in the neck position. Rhythm guitar players love its ability to achieve everything from nice clean bluesy tones, to hard rocking crunch. This humbucker is available in all metal works finishes and comes with EMG's solderless wiring, making installing this pickup a breeze.

The X series preamp gives the pickup a more dynamic range along with increased headroom while keeping the more traditional string-to-string balance. X series pickups also come with an Active Tone Control (VLPF) designed to roll-off (attenuate) high frequencies, similar to a typical passive tone control. The result is a noiseless single coil guitar pickup with a classic EMG sound that bridges the gap between active and passive.
