The EMG TX Set is a new take on the classic Telecasters™ pickup. Don't let the looks fool you, the TX Set gives you all the twang and punch you'd expect with incredible clarity and definition with no hum. The bridge pickup (RTX) gives players that classic chime without the 'ice pick' and a rich low end. When overdriven, this guitar pickup screams with incredible sustain and edge. The neck pickup (FT) has everything you want from a front single coil: clarity, warmth, and rich harmonic content that is perfectly matched to the back pickup.

The TX Set uses Alnico magnets with custom engineered coils, windings and our X preamp to give your sound fullness and a tone that bridges the gap between passive and active. The EMG TX Set covers rock, country, blues, fusion, R&B... and with our solderless wiring system, it's easy to install on your own.

The X series preamp gives the pickup a more dynamic range along with increased headroom while keeping the more traditional string-to-string balance. X series pickups also come with an Active Tone Control (VLPF) designed to roll-off (attenuate) high frequencies, similar to a typical passive tone control. The result is a noiseless single coil guitar pickup with a classic EMG sound that bridges the gap between active and passive.

Manufacturer's Note: Make sure to check the instructions for pickup measurements before purchasing to compare your existing pickups with EMG models.

All EMG Pickups are built to order. Estimated shipping is between 7-14 business days.

I've had a TX set in my Tele for over ten years now, and I've never considered replacing them.

Honestly they do everything that you'd want from a Telecaster, minus the hum, and with an added bonus of huge sustain and harmonics.

Active pickups get a lot of flack for sounding dull or sterile, but these sound as natural as anything. I think the X series preamp really does help it retain an organic tone without the compression you'd normally get from active pickups.

Honestly the only "fault" I can even find with these is just a natural characteristic of active pickups; the clean tone is VERY clean. Not enough to cause a dramatic volume drop going from high gain to clean, but it does take some getting used to if you're used to having a little more break-up with your clean tone. That said, it's actually pretty neat. On a totally clean setting it almost sounds like an acoustic electric. I don't know how else to describe it than it sounds like the pure sound of the guitar, just amplified. But it's usually not a big deal for me, I like to have a clean boost on pretty much 24/, so it evens out nicely.

Speaking of clean, let's get to distortion. These are not "hot" pickups, they will not drive an amp. Think of these as classic Telecaster pickups, minus noise and plus harmonics. What they will do is absolutely CUT through ANY amount of distortion with the clarity and precision you'd expect from a Tele (I'm talking clean boost, plus distortion, plus a Tubescreamer with every note ringing out). But you might think that means you're going to metaphorically jam screwdrivers into your ears every time you hit those unwound strings with the bridge pickup on... WRONG! You get all the snap, spank, sparkle, sizzle and s-awesomeness you want without being overbearing. Same goes for the neck pickup, totally warm, round, fat, and articulate, without any of the pillow-over-the-amp, tone on zero muddiness some Tele faux lipstick pickups suffer.

Installation is a breeze, I did it in less than an hour with hand tools when I was a teenager, you can do it too.

Overall I give these a 10/10. Capable of any genre from blues, country, jazz, rock, metal, doom, death and prog, punk... You name it. It's like a cheat code where you get all the benefits of a Telecaster with no penalties. What's not to love?

My first electric was an epi SG followed by a Paul. Needless to say I've been a humbucker guy for a long time. Just enjoying that full bodied power. Recently I built an ash telemaster, for the look and a change of pace. I'm glad I did. These pups bring the thrills. Tone controls lord over a variety sonics. R and B, Texas and Chicago blues. Rawk, metal, you name it. I have another Tele style build coming up, and believe it will have a set of TX's.

I've always been a big fan of good Tele tones but hated the noise. All the "noiseless" pickups I've tried over the years were only so-so. Fortunately I saw a YouTube video of a guy playing the TX Tele set. That's all it took...ordered the set immediately! So, I've just installed the set and I'm blown away with the clarity and tone. True Tele tones and dead quiet! I was also thrilled with the ease of installation. Solder-less is the only way to go from here on out. Thanks EMG!
