The ABC is an active EQ accessory that eliminates insertion loss and is designed to work with all our non-X series pickups that use a standard passive tone pot. Insertion loss is a naturally occurring yet frustrating phenomenon that occurs most frequently with traditional balance pots, usually when it is in the middle position. It is characterized by a drop in signal strength that occurs when two competing signals are mixed; the nearer you move the balance knob to the middle position the more directly it affects the signal of the other pickup.

EMG has designed the Active Balance Control (ABC) to eliminate this phenomenon and gives a player more direct control and a more reliable expectation of what their tone will sound like at any given time. Whether in the studio or playing live, EMG once again provides the reliability and quality that musicians have come to rely on the world over.

All EMG Pickups are built to order. Estimated shipping is between 7-14 business days.

Put the ABC solid shaft into an EMG P/J bass I built from the ground up. The whole circuit is great! Super quiet and well balanced throughout the entire frequency spectrum. This was so noticeable that my guitar player noticed it and said he didn't hear the dead and hot spots that were normally there. The only down side is the ABC died on stage one night and was a little rough but on the upside I wired the circuit using the modular non-soldering wiring I was able to by-pass the ABC and continue the show. This bass and the EMG PU's are so pleasing to me that I have no hesitation in replacing the ABC and have no fear of going on stage or traveling with it. I love the way you can "tune" the bass with the ABC to the stage or room by getting rid of rumble or the need to cut through by running the control partially one way or the other and having much more control over a switch that only provides front, bridge, or both PU's. Yes, I will be replacing the ABC with out hesitation.
