The HAX pickup is EMG's original single-coil pickup design in a humbucker housing with the X preamp on board for added dynamic control. The HAX has the same noiseless operation and clarity as its single coil brother which debuted in 1974. Featuring an Alnico magnet, this pickup provides the widest possible frequency response for clarity, warmth and a rich blend of harmonics. This pickup is an excellent choice for the rhythm guitarist who needs added definition for chording, or for lead work when the bright attack of a single coil pickup is desired. The solderless installation makes this pickup easy to install at home.

Great for clean soundsI paired this with 81X and its a realy cool combo. I use it with JCM800 with max. gain and OD or with Victory vx Kraken which doesnt have clean chanel. With HAX I have nice clean sounds or crunchy tones. HAX sounds like combination of clasic strat single coil and P90.

Just what I neededI needed a guitar that could do nice cleans, but at the same time dirty up hard. I also wanted the same visual look on my guitar. I really enjoyed the matte black and didn't want anything to change the look. I'm usually a single coil guy for cleans and hums for dirty. I dropped this in the neck. This pup sounds really nice clean, but can dirty up as well. I paired this with a 57 in the bridge and its an amazing combo. Using the RPC I can make the HAX sound so crisp and clean like a strat single coil if I want.
The install was so easy. I already had emg wiring in the guitar. It took me longer to change the strings than it did the change the pup.Posted on

Great Pickup. Finish could use some workThis is a great sounding pickup, clean, articulate yet capable of handling some dirt without losing its definition and one that needs more reviews and attention. I was looking for a single coil pickup I could install in a humbucker space I love the fact that EMG offers something like this. Unfortunately the finish was not that great, I purchased a brushed chrome version and the finish was so uneven. Ive tried several EMG's in this finish 56/67, and 89RX, and never had this issue, they all looked perfect.
