Inspired by jazz guitarist Ron Eschete, the 91 was the first "floating" guitar pickup to give archtop players the benefits of a low-impedance pickup. Using Alnico magnets and a specially designed internal preamp, the 91 produces a naturally warm, present tone reminiscent of some of the original floating pickups.

GREAT pickup!!!After using the ACS pickups on our acoustic guitars (which are the best I've found anywhere), I decided to give the 91 a try on my acoustic Loar LH650 archtop. It had a fairly decent Kent Armstrong floater out of the box, but still didn't have a great acoustic archtop tone. I replaced it with the EMG 91, and WOW!!!! Night and day!!! I've been actively searching for true acoustic archtop tone for many years. 'Till now, the ONLY way to get that sound for Swing rhythm was to sit in front of a good condenser mic thru a good PA system. This pickup is EXACTLY what I needed!! I also got two ACS sound hole pickups for our working flattops, and I've never gotten nearly the acoustic tone these have!! I also build solid body electric guitars and use EMG T and T-52 pickups. They have the VERY best ears at EMG!!!!!!!
