The EMG 40PX-5 is our PX bass pickup in an Extended range housing with the treble magnet closer to the neck (like a Spector or Yamaha bass). The X Series preamp offers increased touch sensitivity and dynamic range, helping to bridge the gap between passive and active pickups. The EMG 40PX-5 covers a wide sonic palette of classic and modern bass sounds. Because this pickup utilizes ceramic magnets coupled with short, squat coils, the tone has brilliant high-end articulation, warmth, and incredible low end punch. Countless pros use this bass pickup because of its natural presence, superior dynamics, and low noise. For players who want a "Fender" P alignment - with the treble side closer to the bridge - we offer this pickup in "reverse". Utilizing EMG's solderless wiring, this pickup is easy to install at home. It is intended for 5-string basses that have a standard string spacing (3.125" max).

Wow! Great Upgrade!Recently replaced the stock 40HZ's on my Schecter Sudio-5 with these. Very easy to install. And Wow, what a difference. Massive solid sound. And now it 'growls' at the right time. Lovin' these new PUs. Shout out to Steven and Anthony at EMG ... they answered my phone call and my questions promptly; very professional and knowledgeable. Made me feel like I was their only customer.

Great Pickup!!!I have this in the neck of my bass and it sound incredible. I have tried many basses at stores and decided I wanted to get a p pickup but I didn't think it would sound this good. It's smooth and warm but clear and clean at the same time. Especially a soapbar too! Installation is really easy with the solder-less wiring so no extra hassle.
I have the Fender version with Ceramic Steel magnets. I've also tried the yamaha/spector alignment as well and it also sounds great. You can't lose either way. I highly recommend the PCSX in what ever size soap bar you get!Posted on

Great PickupI had the opportunity to try both the regular and reverse models with Ceramic and steel magnets. They both sounded really good. I had a 40 TWX-R in the bridge and both blend well with it in both settings. The reverse is actually the fender configuration and the normal is the Yamaha. The beautiful thing with EMG too is that if its not your sound, the solder-less wiring really allows you to experiment!
