The MMHZ is a direct replacement for the original Music Man bass pickup. This passive pickup features a ceramic and steel humbucker design for low noise and plenty of output. This bass pickup has the punch and fullness of a traditional passive with added top end for a more defined tone. The five pin connector allows multiple wiring combinations so you can get both dual-coil and single-coil tone with simple switching. Each pickup is fully shielded for a minimum of noise.

Awesome PickupI recently purchased a Sterling SubRay 4 bass and was looking for a passive pickup that I could replace the factory one with. In addition, I routed a pickup cavity for an EMG SJHZ in the neck position. After installing both pickups, I was floored by the powerful sound thunderous lows. After testing the bass for a while, I notice a phase issue between the two pickups when they both were turned all the way up. I contacted Anthony in EMG customer support and he immediately identified the problem. He sent out a custom cable the same day. Once I changed this, the bass sounded awesome. I cannot say enough good things about the customer support at EMG. It is simply the best there is. When you call EMG, a real person picks up the phone and will patiently listen to you ask questions about thier pickups and the installation of them. They are extremely knowledgeable about all pickups. Needless to say, I am customer for life!

PerfectThis pickup, I've used on three basses and I have mounted it in the P-bass position, the Music man position and the Jazz position. This pickup does it all, Motown, funk, slap, blues, and rock. You can do anything with this pickup. I have ran it active and passive, all good.
You can't go wrong with this pickup.Posted on

Stingray HH ClonePut two MMHZs in my clone build couldn’t be happier. Exactly the tone I was looking for. Full blast they absolutely kick you in the nuts. Roll the tone off and you get a nice, meaty, low end thump. Bridge is snappy, great for pick techniques; the neck works awesome for fingerstyle. I don’t ‘slap’. But I’ll switch between pick and finger depending on the drums. I usually set mine with the neck at about 75% of the bridge volume to get more grind out of my heavy gauge Rotosounds. Tone is almost always on vs rolled off. My Orange Crush 100 combo has never sounded so good. I’ll be dropping the Geezer Signature in my P Bass next. Thanks much EMG!

LOVE theseI bought a new bass recently because I fell in love with the design/look of it. (Schecter stage, white body, four string). Sexy little beast. But the tonal quality sucked. After putting tons of thought into it I bought these EMG Hzs, since I have Hzs in another bass of mine and the sound quality I got from them is excellent. Anyway, I just had these installed and I'm thrilled. They have such a rich sound quality to them. The sound that comes through is very clear, and expansive. I don't even have the vocabulary to explain what is going on here -- I just know that they've made the bass sound 10x better. Now it looks AND sounds sexy!
