EMG’s Retro Active technology moves to the single coil arena. The Crossroads Set produces Strat tones reminiscent of legendary players like Clapton, Beck and Hendrix. Each pickup is voiced with a different resonant frequency giving an amazing balance when combined in positions 2 or 4 and all the blues tone you’re used to in position 1, 3 and 5.

Players will enjoy all the benefits of active pickups with the dynamic response of vintage passives. Like our Retro Active Humbuckers you get vintage tone with no buzz or hum. Welcome to the classic Strat blues tone without the classic Strat noise.

Make sure to check the instructions for pickup measurements before purchasing to compare your existing pickups with EMG models.

All EMG Pickups are built to order. Estimated shipping is between 7-14 business days.

I am a left handed guitarist from Australia. I took a punt on these as the major problem lefty players have with single coil pickup guitars is that guitar brands use staggered pickups and they are wrong for left handed guitars (unless specifically made for left hand stagger.) Flat stagger (no stagger) pickups are actually difficult to find - as I have discovered. And then I stumbled across these: EMG Crossroad set. I installed these in my new 2023 Gaskell Relic Series Strat-style left handed guitar (just got it!) and although the stock pickups are actually quite excellent, they still have the hum in positions 1, 3 and 5 and I play hard rock and metal. Gaskell Guitars makes left handed guitars only, by the way. Have been around for 15 years. If you don't know about them then you are way out of the loop.

There are two major pluses with these EMGs: 1) They are not staggered. Sound is even with no annoying "loud D" [lefty] "loud G" [righty] 2) they are noiseless. You can use positions 1, 3, and 5 now! All your problems as a lefty guitarist are solved in the EMG Crossroad set. The only downside is they are over $450 a set in Australian dollars whether you buy from USA or UK. That's a lot of money to us.

Found it. Installed them into my most recent hard tail strat build which the rest of the guitar was built up on the cheap, I put it together as a bar/busking beater. I didn’t realize how much I had fallen in love with these pups till I started looking for my next strat build and came to the realization that there was no longer a decision to be made when it came to the pickups. I’ll never use another single coil pup. I installed mine with the SPC boost and recommend that for sure. With the boost turned down you get the slightly thin jangley 60’s tone, wanna sound like Jimi? Done. Bring the boost up to about 5 and suddenly I’ve got Slash November rain tone dialed better than I get out of my Alnico pro 2 buckers, no joke. My search for my perfect single coil is over.

I have often wondered about active pickups, so when i planned my strat build, figured it would be a great time to try the EMGs so as not to even bother with the pickups that came with the kit. Glad i did! I like them a lot! I bought a Super 77 humbucker bridge pickup and replaced the bridge single Crossroads pickup but lost my strat sound...and loved the humbucker sound in it..so now i have to buy a neck humbucker to go with the Super 77 and put that set in my ESP to get the best of both those worlds! I have communicated a lot with Mitch and he has steered me straight each time and now i know these pickups are made here in the US by these guys only adds to the pleasure of them! Thanks EMG!

I installed these on a partscaster build, which is now my maing guitar. The Crossroads set give me authentic Strat tones, with no noise. But I also include the EMG boost switch set to give me just slightly hotter output, along with the mid-boost control when I need some more beef. This is the kind of stuff EMGs are made for and they do it very well. Highly recommended.

I have a 1995 57 Japan Strat that had S emgs for the '90s ( Paul Jackson JR, Mike Landuatone)..But, what something different in the neck position. I tried an SA, but, giving me the openness that I wanted. So, purchased a crossroads (neck) position.. Bingo!! That did the trick..

Installed in 57 reissue Strat. They sound great, bell tone for days. Coming through PA is crispy and zero hum no matter how many neon signs at the gig. My first install; went well, even I could understand it. Love the product!

Fantastic tone! Definitely the sound I was looking for in these pickups. Being active it is still a bit of a battle to get the dynamic I was looking for but at least now it is with less effort. It is a bit of playing around with your settings ... Bring that volume knob way down on the guitar, and turn the amp volume up and you have it... the dynamics everyone says is missing, appears. Great Job EMG!
