These are itI have used Emg pickups for years, 81,85,60, 57/66 through various amps and this set has really took me by surprise. My Emg 81 is a benchmark got the sound I want, and this bridge delivers that with a more versatile feel!
The neck reminds me of an 85 as it can deliver fat tones, and singing notes, all while having some great cleans.
Overall great set, great price. As with anything Emg, from budget guitar to high end these will bring the tone you want. Absolutely sold on this set now.Posted on

PerfectionThese Bad Boys in my Super Shredder gets it done!...Love the balance of string separation and fullness without Mud...Cleans are what I love about EMG ...have 81tw89tw in another axe , Metal for days... But these are Perfect for Hard Rock of the 70s 80s..design team was Spot On!..Thanks

Best of both worldsI have used EMG 81s for years, and while I love them for what they do, there were obvious limitations to them. The Hot 70s, however, have lots of head room and sparkle, being capable of producing super hi-gain, metallic tones, but can also produce really gorgeous and saturated distortion that is akin to VH-esque and other hard rock tones if you choose to dial them back. Unlike the workhorse 81s, the Hot 70s and very tweakable and versatile, and not only that, the clean tones are extremely good and full bodied. Somewhat dark, but not in a bad way. Great, and very "alive" pickup dynamics, and I like them more as I get used to them.

Great sound... Easy to installGreat product. I installed these pickups in my prs se and the sound improvement is huge... great sound, very versatile..and without any noise.. The sound is very close to classic pasive pickups....and best of all, very esay to install.. It took me less than an hour to complete the whole process... And Im not a guitar tech...

Best pickups I’ve EVER played !!!I put a hetset in my explorer and it became my number guitar for about a month ... but then I received these today (it only took a week and a half to get to me from when I order them ) super awesome ! I put them in my SoCal Charvel with a killswitch and I can’t say enough of a positive response on how happy I am . I had Seymour Duncan distortions in it before and liked them ... but after getting the retro active 70’s I couldn’t stop smiling. The pick attack is insane , volume control from the pots is unbelievably smooth,the killswitch... well it kills lol. Cleans are crystal clean on the neck and the bridge is gritty but still very clear ! I have a Jim root Jazzmaster on order and if I for some reason don’t like his pickups these hot 70’s are for sure going in !!! EMG you made guitar fun for me again !! Thank you !!!

Just one word... YES!I have three Sun Valley Super Shredders, two 7 strings and one 6 string, all outfitted with Hot 70's in the bridge position. I'm getting compliments on my tone all the time (especially on recordings) I usually play 7 string metal, and they hold their own easily.
