Guitar virtuoso Marty Friedman relies on only the best of everything to deliver his unique one-of-a-kind guitar mastery. EMG had been part of this equation for the former Megadeth guitarist for years. EMG president and founder Rob Turner set out to develop a brand new passive signature set for Marty that delivered all of the dynamic response, power, punch and clarity that only EMG can.

With alnico 5 magnets and a brand new recipe for winding the custom made bobbins, the result was exactly what Marty had been searching for. Available in Marty’s favorite brushed black chrome finish, these pickups look as deadly as they sound. “When I heard this pickup, I knew it was "the one" because it made me want to keep playing and never stop. This is my sound. I’m glad EMG took the time to get it right.

Make sure to check the instructions for pickup measurements before purchasing to compare your existing pickups with EMG models.

All EMG Pickups are built to order. Estimated shipping is between 7-14 business days.

I put these in a LP Shred - replaced 496 and 500... these are perfect response to the solidness of the guitar and follow the Floyd without any drop in sound or sustain even at low / rolled off output. Best choice I could've made. Very happy with the sound and performance.

I bought these on a whim after watching a series of videos on YouTube featuring Marty and Japanese guitarist Rolly. I put these in my Gibson Les Paul Custom and they absolutely made an awesome guitar even better. I can reach any sonic territory with these, from jazz to blues to metal. Massive props to EMG, now I understand why some of the best musicians in the world use EMG pickups.

Installed in a brand new Purple LTD EC256FM.These are a great set of passive pickups! They’re not an active set so the output is not as loud as I’m used to, but a few adjustments here and there, and there just as good, but man can they shred, sound great for metal, rock, etc.! I got the Brushed Black Chrome color and they actually have a purple tint to them! Installation was easy as always from there solderless kit. Been an EMG fan for years, always 81’s or actives, I’ve also used the H4’s! EMG really knows what they’re doing when it comes to pickups, 6 of my 10 guitars all use EMG’s!

I was expecting a medium output pickup with a broad frequency range and a more balanced midrange, like something I would expect from Marty to be playing. Instead, I was rather shocked to find this is a very tuned, bass & treble focused set with a solid midrange that wasn't too peaky. The output is enormous, yet still sharp. This pickup set has a slice to it that blew me away, its highly articulate, and responds with extreme sensitivity to pick attack. Other than the lack of a basic black plastic cover option, its one of the best passive pickups I've ever installed into a guitar. I couldn't recommend this pickup enough, if you're on the fence, I wouldn't worry about coming away disappointed. I had even planned to add a boost circuit when I first got these, thinking they'd probably need it. They don't. At all.

You can do anything from the megadeth days to his solo. I have tried the hangar 18 on the pickups they rock and got the tone I was looking for. They are very versatile like a active humbucker in passive. This is a beast.

These pickups are most likely the best pickups I’ve ever used! I saw a review video about these and it was stated that these have no fat on them, they are tight and focused and the sound is surgical. Other than being a fan of Marty Friedman, that’s what made me decided to get these pickups. The pickups sound huge! I play through a Marshall DSL with a Maxon OD808 in front and all I can say is WOW! I didn’t want to put my guitar down! Job well done on these pickups Rob Turner and EMG! These are amazing!

Bought an old PRS Standard SE and installed these. These brought the guitar to life. Love the brushed black finish. This is my first set of EMG's, but won't be my last.

Got a set to replace some passive EMG-HZ 3's I had in a super strat of mine, and I was blown away by how much more hot these were. These things have alot of clarity and tightness, but in the neck position it's got a creamy body with a sharp attack peaking through the meat of the sound in the best way. I've never used a pickup that had such a wide volume range on it, it seems like I can got from 0-20 instead of 0-10 so there's alot of variation in the playability.

They're hot without overloading the front end of my gear somehow, I don't know how EMG pulled this off, but it's impressive!
