The EMG 35P4X is our P bass pickup in an Extended range housing with the treble magnet closer to the neck (like a Spector or Yamaha bass). The EMG 35P4X covers a wide sonic palette of classic and modern bass sounds. Because the 35P4X utilizes ceramic magnets coupled with short, squat coils, the tone has brilliant high-end articulation, warmth, and incredible low end punch. With the EMG X preamp on-board, you get even greater dynamic control and touch sensitivity, much like a passive pickup. Utilizing EMG's solderless wiring, this pickup is easy to install at home.
The X series preamp gives the pickup a more dynamic range along with increased headroom while keeping the more traditional string-to-string balance. X series pickups also come with an Active Tone Control (VLPF) designed to roll-off (attenuate) high frequencies, similar to a typical passive tone control. The result is a noiseless single coil guitar pickup with a classic EMG sound that bridges the gap between active and passive.

Very impressive Just as it said " more dynamic range increased headroom "I have been playing Bass for 49 years , reseantly replaced the Fishman Flunce pickups on my Spector NS Dimension Multi-scale 4 string and 5 string Basses with the 35P4X and the 40PX-5 the fishman were all right but not for me . i needed something that was not so synthetic sounding and did not feel compressed . both the ENGs i mention above i bought using the EMG soapbar discripition and crossed my fingers , WOW i am very impressed i got what i wanted and more . the sound i can get out of these beautys, i must say from NEW to OLD and way more . i do use the BQC System on both Basses " incredible" easy to use easy to install . i love passive pickups so i was a little skeptical, but i must say these pickups respond very much like a passive pickup the more i dig in the more comes out " touch sensitive " the BQC System for me bringes out everything that the pickups have to offer and way more because it gives me the ability to pan between both pickups + variable frequency knob with the boost and cut gets me where i need to be . salute to EMG and there Team . I am very pleased .
