  • Here are some testimonials from the artist roster:

  • Matt Bachand - Shadows Fall
  • March 24, 2010
  • "The new 81X is just what I am looking for in a pickup. The crunch and raw power of the original 81, yet the cutting mid-range I have been seeking."

  • Steve Lukather

  • “I tried these new X pickups and I really like them and have been using them on this tour on the guitar I am using as my main guitar. I am just plugging straight into a Marshall and a few stomp boxes on this run so the sound is very pure. Been getting many compliments on the sound from our FOH engineer and fans alike.”

  • Shane Clark - 3 Inches Of Blood
  • March 24, 2010
  • “I put the X Series in my '61 reissue SG for our European Tour we did recently, and I loved the pickups. I had a chance to try them with a few different amps that wouldn't normally use too and they were great. Aside from my Marshall and Boogie, I used an Engle and a Randall. I've always been a big fan of the 81 but the 81X is really well suited to what I'm going for. I like to use the X series very much.”

  • Alexia Rodriguez - Eyes Set To Kill
  • March 24, 2010
  • “I started playing with the new EMG X and never went back. I am always skeptical about trying new things because of how many times I have been let down by a new product. But I am still rocking the EMG X series pickups and can't see myself ever going back.”

  • Brendon Small - Dethklok
  • March 24, 2010
  • "My favorite Metal rhythm guitar sound! The X series gives you all the balls of the EMG 81 and 85 but with a little more head room that allows for more dynamics. Even though dynamics are for wimps in fusion bands."

  • Chris Dawson - Seasons After

  • Jona Weinhofen
  • March 24, 2010
  • "I've been using EMG pickups since day one of my musical career. They have provided me with the exact sound I need for playing heavy, fast metal and hardcore. Over the years I tried a few different models, finally settling with the classic 81/85 combo. When I discovered the revamping of these models I was both excited and nervous. When the 81 X and 85 X were born I thought 'could these pickups seriously get any better?' and yet somehow EMG have managed to improve on something which I'd thought had already achieved perfection! The 81X/85X have all the gain and balls of their previous counterparts, yet have extended tonal capabilities you can't even comprehend!"

  • Chris Cannella - Autumn’s End
  • March 24, 2010
  • “My whole life I was hunting down the perfect pickups for my hands. Something which has the classic sound of EMG but more velocity sensitive for clean tones. I found it! The EMG X! A perfect blend of everything you love with EMG but even bigger sounding in every way! From riffing to shredding to atmospheric. I swear by them!”

  • Stephen Bradley - I Wrestled a Bear Once
  • March 24, 2010
  • “The new X series is amazing! We've played EMG’s for years and and had no clue how something could out do the normal 81/60 combo, but these things are just perfect for our band! They have the same EMG sound everyone knows and loves, but somehow sound smoother and have more warmth. Point being, if you don't have a set of these pickups you are missing out.”
