  • ANIMALS AS LEADERS - TOSIN ABASI
  • October 7, 2010
  • Animals As Leaders was formed soon after Reflux disbanded, when Tosin Abasi began work on an instrumental solo project as a way to further express his musical personality. The result: a 12-track collection of guitar-driven progressive instrumentals with ambient and electronic influences that provides a scintillating showcase for one of the finest young guitarists in rock today.

Legendary guitarist Steve Vai recently commented on Abasi and Animals As Leaders: "When I first heard Animals As Leaders, I felt as though, at last, I was hearing the future of creative, heavy virtuoso guitar playing. It's quite amazing."

Tosin uses the EMG 808X pickups in his 8 string Ibanez.

  • October 7, 2010
  • EMG welcomes guitarists Jeff Kendrick, Mike Spreitzer and bassist Jon Miller to the roster!

Since first forming in 2003, this Santa Barbara metal quintet has stuck resolutely to the mission: Work hard, rock harder, and kick as many asses as possible in the process, and they've done exactly that headlining today’s top metal festivals such as The Ozzfest & Rockstar Energy’s Mayhem Festival.

Jeff uses the EMG 81 (bridge), 60 (neck) - Mike uses the EMG 81 (bridge), 85 (neck) and Jon uses the EMG 35DC & MMCS in their ESP guitars and basses.

  • STEVE WINWOOD
  • October 7, 2010
  • As a solo artist, Steve Winwood is primarily associated with the highly polished blue-eyed soul-pop that made him a star in the '80s. Yet his turn as a slick, upscale mainstay of adult contemporary radio was simply the latest phase of a long and varied career since his days in Traffic, one that's seen the former teenage R&B shouter move through jazz, psychedelia, blues-rock, and progressive rock. To get all these tones, Steve chooses the EMG SV single-coil set.

  • SHINEDOWN - ZACH MYERS & ERIC BASS
  • October 7, 2010
  • Zach Myers has been going to rock n roll shows and listening to rock since he can remember along with blues and soul music... being from Memphis, TN there’s no shortage of great music with soul. Zach started playing guitar at 13 and then at 14 the next thing he knew he had a manager, a record deal, a band, and was touring the world before he knew it he was in Shinedown along with bassist Eric Bass.

Zach’s EMG’s of choice is broader than most musicians, choosing the EMG 81 (bridge) 60 (neck) combo but also utilizing the EMG 58, ACS Acoustic Sound-hole and Vince Gill’s VG20 set-up to get the tones needed for Shinedown’s versatile music style. While Eric Bass holds down the bass lines using our EMG MMCS Music Man replacements paired with our BTS EQ System.

  • DIR EN GREY – DIE & KAROU

  • DIR EN GREY has conquered the Japanese rock scene with lyrics that convey sorrow, darkness and anger in modern society. The band has received international critical acclaim for their masterful translation of the lyrics to their dramatic and at times shocking stage show and also have gained a strong following in the USA while still keeping all the lyrics in Japanese. Guitarists Die & Karou use the EMG 81 (bridge) and 85 (neck) combination.
