Animals As Leaders was formed soon after Reflux disbanded, when Tosin Abasi began work on an instrumental solo project as a way to further express his musical personality. The result: a 12-track collection of guitar-driven progressive instrumentals with ambient and electronic influences that provides a scintillating showcase for one of the finest young guitarists in rock today.
Legendary guitarist Steve Vai recently commented on Abasi and Animals As Leaders: "When I first heard Animals As Leaders, I felt as though, at last, I was hearing the future of creative, heavy virtuoso guitar playing. It's quite amazing."
Tosin uses the EMG 808X pickups in his 8 string Ibanez.
EMG welcomes guitarists Jeff Kendrick, Mike Spreitzer and bassist Jon Miller to the roster!
Since first forming in 2003, this Santa Barbara metal quintet has stuck resolutely to the mission: Work hard, rock harder, and kick as many asses as possible in the process, and they've done exactly that headlining today’s top metal festivals such as The Ozzfest & Rockstar Energy’s Mayhem Festival.
Jeff uses the EMG 81 (bridge), 60 (neck) - Mike uses the EMG 81 (bridge), 85 (neck) and Jon uses the EMG 35DC & MMCS in their ESP guitars and basses.
As a solo artist, Steve Winwood is primarily associated with the highly polished blue-eyed soul-pop that made him a star in the '80s. Yet his turn as a slick, upscale mainstay of adult contemporary radio was simply the latest phase of a long and varied career since his days in Traffic, one that's seen the former teenage R&B shouter move through jazz, psychedelia, blues-rock, and progressive rock. To get all these tones, Steve chooses the EMG SV single-coil set.
Zach Myers has been going to rock n roll shows and listening to rock since he can remember along with blues and soul music... being from Memphis, TN there’s no shortage of great music with soul. Zach started playing guitar at 13 and then at 14 the next thing he knew he had a manager, a record deal, a band, and was touring the world before he knew it he was in Shinedown along with bassist Eric Bass.
Zach’s EMG’s of choice is broader than most musicians, choosing the EMG 81 (bridge) 60 (neck) combo but also utilizing the EMG 58, ACS Acoustic Sound-hole and Vince Gill’s VG20 set-up to get the tones needed for Shinedown’s versatile music style. While Eric Bass holds down the bass lines using our EMG MMCS Music Man replacements paired with our BTS EQ System.
Guitarist for San Francisco’s Bay Area Thrash Metal legends Exodus, Gary Holt has been the main songwriter and the most senior member of the group ever since joining the band following Kirk Hammett's 1983 departure from Exodus to join Metallica. Holt kept the band going ever since and is on top of his game to this day. Gary prefers the EMG 81 (bridge) and EMG 89 (neck) combo in all his Schecter Guitars.
DIR EN GREY has conquered the Japanese rock scene with lyrics that convey sorrow, darkness and anger in modern society. The band has received international critical acclaim for their masterful translation of the lyrics to their dramatic and at times shocking stage show and also have gained a strong following in the USA while still keeping all the lyrics in Japanese. Guitarists Die & Karou use the EMG 81 (bridge) and 85 (neck) combination.
One of the foundations of the metal revival of the past ten years, Austin TX’s The Sword have released three flawless slabs of vintage heaviness on Kemado Records, toured the world with Metallica, and were one of the first bands to lock into a whole new legion of fans through GuitarHero.
After touring with Metallica, guitarist Kyle Shutt decided to try out a EMG Zakk Wylde 81/85 Set and has been using EMG’s ever since only upgrading them to the Chrome versions to keep his preferred vintage look.
My Darkest Days is a new rock group with tons of potential based out of Toronto Canada. Having just released their self titled debut album on Universal Records, the band’s 1st single “Porn Star Dancing” (featuring EMG alumi guest appearances from Zakk Wylde & Chad Kroeger) is blazing up the chats and will be on tour this Fall with Papa Roach & Skillet.
Guitarist Sal Coz Costa & singer/guitarist Matt Walst use the EMG 81 (bridge) and EMG 85 (neck) active humbuckers along with the EMG ACS Sound-hole pickup in their acoustic guitars.
Nervecell emerged early in the year 2000 in the commercial city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Surrounded by a music scene that is dominated completely by the mainstream musical hype, Nervecell independently worked their way up and have undoubtedly proven to be the most potential metal outfit in the Middle East to date, delivering a powerful unique mixture of death metal & thrash metal.
EMG welcomes guitarists Rami Mustafa, Barney Riberio and singer/bassist James Khazall to the roster!
