A lot of options and versatility

Charles /Reviewed 2/5/2018

My first set of EMG's and a great entry choice. I loved the idea of a quick connect, it took some getting used to as the components weren't super sturdy or tight. I had to switch to old school pots switches and wires. The tone was wicked high output, clear and crisp and NO noise. The PA-2 just adds to the fun with the adjustable gain trim it was easy to go from clean amp to nice overdrive to heavy crunch with moderate gain to squealing hellfire leads. I swapped out the 85 to another 81 to get the Kirk Hammett sound, I've put this system in alot of different guitars since 09 when I purchased them and they are not bad. But I think for a new comer to active pickups or EMG these are a perfect step up for the moderate to advanced metal player and any other styles.

Killer PIckups with a Booster gain switch

Terry /Reviewed 11/15/2015

i had a chance to install these pickup sets into my jackson rhoads.
The combination between 81 and 85s are phenomenal it gives out the sound what you are expecting to hear and also with the addition of gain boost switch, you dont really need a booster pedal or whatever, a little switch does all the jobs.
overall phenomenal pickups with very essential gain boost switch

Simple, straight to the point and killer sounds!

Nuno Mello /Reviewed 4/2/2015

I got this kit some years ago. It was quite simple to install in my guitar and it's quite easy to operate and with it I can get some really killer tones. It got the classic 81/85 workhorse classic combo tones with the added punch with the booster that can be easily turned on/off. With distortion it makes the screams even more with an increase in gain and sustain. With a really clean amp tone it can be really useful to really step out the mix easily with no need of an extra pedal. You may go directly from really clean chord tones to lead clean tones (if the boost isn't set up all the way up of course!).
Once you use this set you probably will want to have a PA2 in all of your guitars. It's great! \m/ \m/

turbo boost!

Darren /Reviewed 11/4/2014

installed on a Jackson soloist the 81/85 combo are very good, the kit install went smooth, the PA2 boosts hard; good thing it has a trim on the inside to set what you need. at full 20db its like a boost pedal overloading the amp input. set lower it gives a punch. the box comes with a cool pick. when you break it down part by part its a little less than buying everything on its own. a mid freq control knob would be a good option. still its the KFK set! very loud! you need to cut through this is the set. thank you KFK and EMG. I plan on installing a RPC or leaving the PA2 I haven't decided yet
