The 60 humbucker packs plenty of output with a balance of thick, boosted mids, big lows and singing highs. Featuring close aperture coils, similar to a mini-humbucker, this model produces rich harmonic overtones with plenty of sustain. Due to its ceramic magnets, the EMG 60 has a full treble response and loads of output great for distinct single-note solos. The 60 provides clarity and character to your guitar and works very well in the neck position. Like all EMG active guitar and bass pickups, the 60 installs without the use of a soldering iron, making it easy to do at home.

excellent pickup for all styles

diesect /Reviewed 8/18/2014

Many people don't try these in the bridge position or for other styles of music other than metal and they're MISSING OUT. granted i play metal (but i also do some session work on ocassion and rely on these a lot. i will often swap out the factory EMG's for other EMG's! lol. example in this instance is the 60 and for the bridge position (palm muted metalcore, death metal or anything heavy) it just screams. it's very quiet and has the response i need. this pickup set at the correct height (players preferance really but i find i like these at about .4-6mm from the pickup ring/surround best) they have a broader dynamic range and stronger midrange and treble difinition than the 81 (which i use in the neck or occasionally the 60A or 85/89 depending on the guitar and wood combination) and since i often use the neck pickup for leads and the bridge for agressive rhythms it just works better for what i like to hear there. i love the 81 in the neck though. if you want that consistent overdrive and even pick attack the 81 is perfect for it. so i tend to use the 60 in the bridge and 81 in the neck of mahogany guitars (or 60 and 60A) and i will use the 85 in the bridge and 60a (or 81 in the neck again) with alder bodies. I think more metal players would benefit from giving this pickup a try in the bridge. they may be pleasantly surprised as i was.

THE active neck pickup

Jackie /Reviewed 3/19/2014

I am not surprised to see this pickup in many different genres. It simply excels at producing a sweet, warm, rich clean tone and a nice, smooth, liquid but clear lead tone.

Smooth, Creamy Lead Tone!

facemelter0990 /Reviewed 11/29/2013

If you are looking for a great lead/solo tone for any genre of music then look no further than the EMG 60. I have this pickup in my LTD EX-400 on the neck and it is sick! As soon as I have to play a solo I just flip the switch up to the 60 and BAM! Instant smooth lead tone that hides sloppiness and string noise and blends into your bands mix perfectly! I would recommend this pickup to any serious lead player!
