Based on the original 707, the EMG 909 gives players all the tone, presence and dynamics they demand in a 9 string guitar pickup. The EMG 909 eliminates the problem of muddy bass strings that often lack rich harmonic character and definition. Featuring Alnico V loaded, wide aperture coils, EMG beefs up the tone of the low strings while maintaining a balanced and articulate upper register. This provides the responsive and tight sound nine string players love. This pickup will articulate every note, chord, and harmonic you ask of it. Used equally in the bridge and neck positions, the EMG 909 pickup will forever change how you hear and play your 9-string guitar. Solderless wiring makes installing the 909 easy to do on your own.

Great Neck Pickup

Davin /Reviewed 11/6/2015

My Schecter Damien Platinum 9 came with two EMG 909 pickups for the neck and bridge positions. I love the sound that this pickup gives me in the neck position. I replaced the bridge pickup with a 909X pickup but the 909 at the neck position sounded better to me. I have heard/seen many musicians replace all their standard pickups with the "X" editions (such as the 909X) but I think they need to give the standard "non-X" pickups a chance at the neck. Reminds me of the popular EMG 81/85 pickup combo quite often used by rock guitarists.
