The MMTW is a direct replacement for the Music Man large profile bass pickup. Inside the MMTW are two independent pickup tones. One is a ceramic and steel humbucking pickup that gives players an incredibly rich bass tone. The wide spread bobbins combined with a large coil surface gives this mode a big bass sound. In the single coil mode, via a push/pull pot, the MMTW becomes our J pickup, with detailed presence and a strong mid-range character. EMG's active preamp makes either mode rich with harmonic content and whisper quiet. This is a great alternative to the stock Music Man pickup and it comes with EMG's solderless wiring and pots.

When using two of TW Pickups in the same instrument it is not recommended that our BT or BQ Systems be used. Each pickup requires a push/pull pot for switching from single coil to humbucker, so the balance control included with the system can'’t be installed. If you want to use the balance control, consider switching single/dual coil outputs with a DPDT toggle switch(s) instead.

Not Just For Metal

Peter /Reviewed 3/15/2017

If you are looking to replace a pickup in your bass and Google suggests you visit the EMG page for this pickup you might think this was a pickup built for Metal and not suited for other styles of music. I can tell you that is simply not true. I play a variety of styles and have found this pickup perfectly suited for Blues, Classic Rock and other non-Metal styles. The notes played with this pickup are clear and loud. The sound is not muddy or garbled.

If you are looking for an excellent replacement pickup you would do well to put this one at the top of your list!

Great All-In-One

BadgerBasses /Reviewed 5/8/2014

I installed one of these in my latest build. No noise, amazing. The harmonics, amazing. The tone, volume, pull switch, all amazing. Couldn't be happier and plan to use this pickup model again in future builds.
Thanks,
And of course the sound/tone/punch.... all amazing

Awesome retro steinberger sound

Cheap BAss Guy /Reviewed 1/3/2014

I collect older Korean made basses and have been playing for 34 years. I bought an old 1980's Synsonic headless HL bass and retro-fitted it with the MMTW. I have gotten numerous comments on how it is a "dead ringer" for a vintage Stenberger (sound wise). Super easy to install (wiring harnesses fit through all of the existing body cavity bores). Quality volume and tone pots - dead silent and great harmonics. Love the coil tap.
Thanks Guys!
