Available as a separate unit, the LJAX is the longer of the two pickups in the JAX Set, usually located in the bridge position. The JAX Set is based off EMG's original J, but uses radiused Alnico V magnets instead of ceramic and our X Series preamp. This creates a tone that is warm and open for a more vintage sound with a broad frequency range and added dynamic response and feel. The JAX provides bass players with natural presence, powerful lows, and expansive midrange. With our X Series preamp on-board, this pickups set truly bridges the gap between passive and active tone - giving players the best of both worlds. Whether you play fretted or fretless you'll get an incredibly full sound with these bass pickups.

Excellent Sounding Jazz Bass Pickups!

John /Reviewed 6/6/2016

Having been a long time user of an EMG P/J set in one of my favorite basses. I came up with a special need - a Fender MB5 five string that uses two bridge position size position 4-string Jazz pickups . These pickups were very noisy and lacked any real punch. After doing a bit of research and listening to sound samples I decided that the LJAX pickups with a BTC system would meet my needs. I was right! Thse pickups made this bass in to a whole new beast. I really love the sound. It's a little warmer than the typical EMG active pickup and really makes the bass come alive. Very true to the samples of JAX pickups on-line and true to the description. I couldn't buy the LJAX pickups in a set so it was pretty pricey, but I now have a bass I can really play out with.
