Jim Root, also known by his numeric designation "#4", is best known for being one of the guitarists for Slipknot, and the lead guitarist for Stone Sour. He has found a way to combine sheer brutality and incredible smoothness, not only in his style and his bands, but also in his pickups of choice. He lays it on thick with the EMG 81/60 combo.
