Derrick “Swol” Ray got his start playing in church and has risen far with the help of his community, faith, and his undeniable talent to be one of the most respected bass players in the R & B/Gospel scenes. He has held down the low-end for such artists as Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Mary J. Blige, Patti Labelle, just to name a few, and is currently on tour with Christina Aguilera. In addition to doing session work and being a highly sought after touring bassist, he is also the bassist for The American Idol Tour.
