Torche is a hard band to categorize, which is evident by fans and critics alike not being able to decide what genre they fall into. They have been called "stoner pop”, "thunder rock," and "doom pop" because of the heavy music accompanied by the Beach Boy-ish vocals, but one thing for sure is that they definitely rock. Jonathan Nunez, Bass player for Torche, plays an EMG-J set and says that "EMG is an essential part of my sound” and goes further to explain that they provide the “reliability, power and clarity that I depend on".
